FAQ

Fiber laser welding offers a revolutionary leap in processing efficiency and quality. It provides cutting-edge processing speeds—often 3 to 10 times faster than conventional TIG or MIG methods. Because the laser beam delivers highly concentrated energy, the Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ) is significantly reduced. This minimizes structural warping and thermal distortion on thin sheets, resulting in cosmetically pristine, high-strength weld seams that require zero post-weld grinding or secondary finishing.

Yes. Historically, highly reflective alloys posed a challenge due to back-reflection damaging the optics. Modern industrial fiber laser systems solve this by utilizing advanced back-reflection isolation technology and specialized wave-modulation (such as continuous-wave mode combined with wobble parameters). This allows the laser energy to break through the high-reflectivity threshold of aluminum, copper, and brass safely, creating a highly stable keyhole and ensuring consistent penetration depth without micro-cracking.

Wobble welding introduces dynamic beam oscillation, allowing the laser spot to move in high-frequency circles, lines, or shapes rather than a fixed point. This technology expands the functional weld seam width (typically adjustable from 0.5mm to 5mm). By broadening the beam’s coverage, it easily bridges wider gaps between poorly fit-up parts, significantly improves tolerance variations in manual operations, and ensures exceptional seam integration even on complex joints.

A wire feeder is not mandatory but depends entirely on your joint fit-up conditions. For “autogenous welding” (where parts fit perfectly tightly with zero gap), the laser seamlessly fuses the base metals together without any filler. However, when handling industrial assemblies with fit-up gaps wider than 0.2mm, or when adding reinforcement to the structural throat is required, an automated wire feeding system must be engaged to consistently bridge the gaps and guarantee mechanical strength.
